Plating Barrel
iZi-plastics develops and manufactures Plating Barrels of any complexity according to the Customer's technical specifications. Plating Barrels are designed and manufactured based on the weight and size of the workpieces being processed. A Plating Barrel can be adapted to automatic lines and barrel baths. We manufacture barrels of any type and size depending on the dimensions of the baths and the transport equipment of the Customer's plating lines. The barrel can consist of several sections for simultaneous coating on parts of different types, has a high degree of perforation, the body is made of chemically resistant material to solutions, and is reinforced with stiffness ribs. Plating Barrels are intended for the processing of small, non-cohesive parts in bulk in plating production. They are used for applying metallic and non-metallic inorganic coatings. The barrels are made in the form of hexagonal prisms. The side walls have perforations. The size of the perforations is preliminarily agreed with the Customer.

Materials for the manufacture of plating barrels:

  • PP, Polypropylene (made in Russia);
  • PP, Polypropylene (imported);
  • PVC, Polyvinyl Chloride;
  • PVDF, Polyvinylidene fluoride.
    iZi-plastics manufactures perforated barrels with a volume from 0.3 dm3 to 100 dm3 with square (0.6x0.6; 1x1; 2x2; 3x3) mm, slotted (0.4x7; 0.25x3) mm or round (3-5) mm perforation according to the customer's requirements.

    The selection of materials is based on the data about the chemical composition of the working environment, temperature regime, operating conditions. Perforated barrels are used in processes:
    • Zinc plating,
    • Tinning,
    • Nickel plating,
    • Phosphating,
    • And other galvanic processes.
    Description of the barrels:
    • The barrel for galvanic coatings is made from chemically resistant non-conductive polymeric materials: polypropylene, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride.
    • Polypropylene barrels are made in the form of a hexagonal, octagonal prism with perforated side faces, or in the form of a cylinder with perforation. The perforation is used for the passage of current and free circulation of the electrolyte.
    • Loading and unloading of parts are done through the loading hatch.
    • Rotation to the barrel is transmitted from the drive through a gear transmission.
    • The motor with gearbox can be located on the drum frame, carriage, or outside the bath.
    Portable plating barrels are designed for processing small parts (nuts, bolts) in bulk by chemical and electrochemical means.
    Portable barrels are used as part of a trolley in plating lines (both automatic and mechanized), as part of individual drum baths.
    iZi-plastics manufactures portable plating barrels (PGB) with square (0.6x0.6; 1x1; 2x2; 3x3) mm, slotted (0.4x7; 0.25x3) mm, or round (3-5) mm perforation according to the customer's requirements. The selection of materials is based on data about the chemical composition of the working environment, temperature regime, and operating conditions.

            • Katie:
              Why is a plating barrels so good?
              Support:
              Plating barrels are highly regarded in the metal finishing industry for several reasons, offering both economic and process efficiency advantages:

              1. Uniform Coating: Plating barrels provide a uniform and consistent coating on parts, especially for small and intricate components. The rotating action ensures that each part is evenly exposed to the plating solution.

              2. High Efficiency: They allow for the bulk processing of small parts, making the plating process more efficient and cost-effective. This is particularly beneficial for high-volume production runs.

              3. Reduced Labor Costs: Since plating barrels can process many parts at once, they reduce the need for manual handling of individual components, thereby lowering labor costs.

              4. Versatility: Plating barrels are suitable for a wide range of plating processes, including nickel, copper, zinc, and cadmium plating. They can be adjusted for different plating conditions and requirements.

              5. Improved Safety: By automating the plating process, plating barrels reduce the exposure of workers to harmful chemicals and the risks associated with manual plating processes.

              6. Resource Optimization: The use of plating barrels helps in minimizing waste of plating solutions and optimizes the use of resources, making the process more sustainable.

              7. Customization: They can be customized with various types of perforations and made from different materials to suit specific plating needs and chemical resistance requirements.

              8. Quality Control: Automated processes tend to have higher repeatability and control over the plating parameters, which contributes to higher quality finishes and fewer rejects.

              9. Space Efficiency: Plating barrels are designed to fit within existing plating lines, making efficient use of space in the production area.

              10. Scalability: The technology is scalable; it can start from small-scale production to large-scale manufacturing without significant changes in the process design.

              In summary, plating barrels are a cornerstone of the metal finishing industry because they offer an efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality solution for the coating of metal parts, particularly those that are small and produced in large quantities.
